Prayer for Memorial Day Lord God Almighty, whose only Son sought not to preserve his life but to make the ultimate sacrifice so that we might have abundant life, we remember this day the personal sacrifices made by many of our fellow citizens in the service of their country. On this day we pause, however briefly, to remember and recall those who gave the last measure of their lives for their faith, their country and their fellow compatriots in arms. The record of their courage is in the hands of history and the vestige of their lives is at rest in our memories. Grant that we and all the citizens of this land may have the grace to honor their good deeds as in righteousness we strive for peace among all the people of God’s creation. Remembering their sacrifice, we rededicate ourselves to the tradition of courage that you, our Lord, have instilled in us. Give us a deep sense of reverence for life that is tempered by a passionate desire for justice. Continue in us the valor of those who have woven this tradition into the fabric of our country. It was a big weekend of celebration for all high school graduates in Rutherford County, but we are especially celebrating with four graduates from our church family. Congratulations to Mitchell McGuire, Kyleigh Bowers, Hannah Onks, Benji Barns and their families. We will be celebrating them on Sunday, June 2nd with a reception between services.
We want to say thank you and congratulations to Adam Revett for completing his Eagle Scout Project this weekend. He and other members of the Scouts re-stained our playground equipment, fixed broken spindles, added a new support beam and other odds and ends around the playground. He and his crew did a great job!
A big thank you to everyone who helped make our combined worship service and meal a great success, but a special thank you goes to Paul Schoenfeld for cooking our hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch!!

We wanted to share an invitation from one of church members who will be receiving his Eagle Scout rank on Saturday. We congratulate and are very proud of Benji and all of the Eagle Scouts associated with our congregation.
A huge thank you goes out to Chandra and all the volunteers who helped make a thank you gift for many of the teachers in the county on this Teacher Appreciation Day! And an even bigger thank you goes out to all the teachers who work with the young people of our church and this community.
If you haven’t eaten breakfast yet, DON’T! Wait and have some pancakes at 8am at Blackman UMC. It’s great breakfast for a great cause. Remember it’s free, but donations are accepted.

Coming up on May 19th we will be having ONE service at 10:00 a.m. with a meal to follow. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to worship and fellowship together in a unique setting. The church will be providing the hamburgers/hot dogs, buns and drinks and we are asking the congregation to bring sides and/or desserts to share.
The calendar has flipped to May and that means VBS is next month! If you (or someone you know) hasn't registered your child yet we encourage you to do so as soon as possible at the link below. It is with great sadness that we share with you the news of Mr. Lee Roy Pannell passing away on Friday morning at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. We ask that you keep Mary Jane and the rest of their family in your prayers over the coming days and weeks. Upcoming Event The Blackman United Methodist Church Men's Club will be hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, May 4th from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. All proceeds will go to support church and community ministries. The Pancake Crew will be doing all of the cooking! Feel free to share and invite other to come join us!
Reminder: We have another Red Cross Blood Drive coming up on April 28th. There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex at Blackman UMC or you can sign-up online. The Red Cross currently only has a 3 day supply of blood and are in desperate need. Also, remember that every blood donation you make goes toward saving 3 lives! Thirdly, remember that this blood drive isn't just for church members and we strongly encourage you to share this with others.
